ABOUT EcoFinish (AquaBright)
For decades swimming pools were coated in a silky white rubber-based paint finish. In addition to the smooth texture and bright white look, this type of paint was known for its durability against stains and imperfections. During the late 1980’s, government regulations banned some of the most crucial ingredients that made this product maintenance free. New paints were no longer free of imperfections. Blistering, chipping, peeling, and fading began to appear in as little as six months.
This forced swimming pool builders in many regions to switch to plaster finishes. Plaster has its own set of issues, in the form of a long and complicated start-up process (Hot-Start), as well as staining, shrinking, and cracking problems. aquaBRIGHT™ by EcoFinish was scientifically developed to present a solution to these aquatic finish problems. The long-lasting thermo-polymer finish, aquaBRIGHT™ is the wave of the future.
AQUABRIGHT is a comfortable orange-peel finish that is highly resistant to staining, fading, chipping, flaking and peeling. It is soft and easy on the feet, and requires no complicated startup procedures. The colors are vibrant and beautiful and remain consistent throughout the application. DON’T REPLASTER! THE PROBLEMS WITH PLASTER, PEBBLE AND CEMENTITIOUS POOL FINISHES
If you currently have a plaster pool finish, you are already very familiar with the types of issues that arise.
Plaster is very sensitive to pool water chemistry and can easily become abrasive from etching of the plaster.
Colors are tricky with plaster. It is very common to see discoloration or variations in hue or shading.
Staining and mottling is very common with plaster finishes.Startup is very tricky and requires a lot of time, work and care to ensure that everything goes just right.
Pebble pool finishes finishes are generally believed to be better and more durable than standard pool plaster. However they are also known to be rough and abrasive. And since they are cementitious, like plaster, they are also more susceptible to poor water chemistry.
